The Trans Adriatic Express (TAE) is a submarine cable system that connects Italy with Greece, Albania, and Turkey. The cable system consists of two fiber pairs with a total capacity of 1.2 Tbps (terabits per second).
The TAE cable system was built to provide reliable, high-speed connectivity to the Balkan region and beyond. It is owned and operated by a consortium of telecommunication companies, including Telecom Italia Sparkle, OTEGLOBE, Albtelecom, and Turk Telekom.
The TAE cable system spans approximately 765 kilometers in length and was completed in 2003. It has landing stations in Bari and Brindisi in Italy, Igoumenitsa and Chalkida in Greece, Durres in Albania, and Marmaris in Turkey.
The TAE cable system has played a vital role in improving communication infrastructure in the Balkan region and enabling better connectivity for businesses and individuals in the area. It has also served as a critical backup system to other submarine cable systems in the region, ensuring that communication remains uninterrupted in case of any disruptions.
