Djibouti Africa Regional Express 1 (DARE1) Submarine Cable
The Djibouti Africa Regional Express 1 (DARE1) submarine cable is a significant telecommunications infrastructure project designed to enhance connectivity across East Africa. The DARE1 submarine cable was officially ready for service in December 2020. It connects various key landing stations, including Djibouti, Somalia, and Kenya, extending the reach of high-capacity bandwidth to underserved areas. The cable features advanced technology that facilitates extensive data transmission capabilities, with a total capacity of 36 terabits per second (Tbps). This extraordinary capacity is pivotal for supporting the increasing demand for internet services and enhancing overall network performance in the region.
The expected lifespan of the DARE1 submarine cable is approximately 25 years, ensuring long-term reliability and sustainability for telecommunications providers and users in East Africa.
