The CAP-1 submarine cable is a transatlantic cable system that was completed in 2016. It connects the United States and Europe, specifically between Shirley, New York and Bude, United Kingdom. The cable spans over 5,600km and has a capacity of 130 terabits per second. It was built by TE SubCom, a subsidiary of TE Connectivity, and was funded by a consortium of telecom companies including Aqua Comms, Bulk Infrastructure, and Google. The cable system is designed to provide high-speed and reliable connectivity between the two continents, facilitating data transfer and communication for various industries including finance, media, and technology.
