Biznet Nusantara Cable System-1, or BNCS-1, is a submarine cable system that connects Indonesia with Singapore. It is a joint venture between Biznet Networks and the Singapore-based Singtel Group. The cable system spans approximately 1,200 kilometers and has a capacity of 100 Gbps.
BNCS-1 was designed to provide reliable and high-speed connectivity for businesses and consumers in Indonesia, as well as to support the country's growing digital economy. It was launched in 2017 and is the first submarine cable system to connect Indonesia with Singapore since 1991.
The cable system consists of two fiber pairs, with each pair capable of carrying up to 50 Gbps of data. It has landing points in the cities of Batam and Jakarta in Indonesia, and Changi in Singapore. In addition to providing connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore, BNCS-1 also offers connectivity to other submarine cable systems in the region, including the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) and the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) cable systems.
Overall, BNCS-1 has been instrumental in improving connectivity and promoting digital growth in Indonesia, as well as in strengthening the country's ties with Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region.
