The Batam Singapore Cable System (BSCS) is a crucial submarine cable designed to enhance telecommunications connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore. This advanced infrastructure aims to support the increasing demand for high-capacity data transmission in the region, catering to both commercial and consumer needs.
The BSCS was officially ready for service on December 21, 2020. This deployment has significantly improved the bandwidth and connectivity options available between Indonesia and Singapore, facilitating better internet access and communication services.
The cable lands at two primary cable landing stations:
The total capacity of the BSCS is approximately 80 terabits per second (Tbps), allowing it to handle substantial amounts of data traffic and ensuring efficient internet services for users on both ends. This high-capacity feature is essential for supporting various applications, including streaming services, cloud computing, and enterprise-level communications.
Regarding its lifespan, the BSCS is designed to operate effectively for at least 25 years, contingent upon regular maintenance and monitoring. This durability ensures its long-term contribution to regional connectivity.
