The Batam Dumai Melaka (BDM) Cable System is a vital submarine cable network designed to enhance connectivity in the Southeast Asian region. This advanced infrastructure aims to boost internet capacity and improve telecommunications services between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The BDM Cable System was officially ready for service on November 18, 2021. This strategic cable system connects several key locations through its landing stations, which include Batam and Dumai in Indonesia, and Melaka in Malaysia. By linking these locations, the BDM Cable System facilitates increased data traffic and provides a reliable communication pathway for the region.
With a total capacity of 12 Terabits per second (Tbps), the BDM Cable System is equipped to handle significant volumes of data, ensuring that users experience high-speed internet and enhanced service quality. The cable is designed with a lifespan of approximately 25 years, which is common for submarine cable systems, allowing it to serve the growing connectivity demands over the years.
